Third fight Bivol - Beterbiev: Moscow among possible venues!

The long-awaited third fight between Russian boxing stars Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev may take place in Moscow. The possibility of holding the decisive fight of their trilogy in the fall of 2025 at the main arena of the Luzhniki stadium is currently being discussed.

However, this news immediately raises doubts for at least two reasons. Firstly, if the fight is scheduled for October-November, then holding a large-scale boxing show in the open air in Moscow weather looks questionable. Secondly, the rights to organize the fight belong to an influential promoter - Turki Al ash-Sheikh, the head of the Saudi Arabian Entertainment Authority (GEA). It is Saudi Arabia that has been hosting the most high-profile boxing events in recent years.

Nevertheless, Russian promoters have managed to reach a preliminary agreement with Al ash-Sheikh. The key argument was the desire of the boxers themselves - Bivol and Beterbiev - to hold the final fight of their confrontation in Russia.

Let's recall the history of their duel: on October 12, 2024, the first fight took place, in which Beterbiev won by a majority decision. In the rematch on February 22, 2025, Bivol won. Interestingly, the judges' scores in the second fight were mirror images of the first fight - the same scores, but in Bivol's favor.

After two fights, each of the boxers became the absolute light heavyweight champion once. However, this status will not be played out in the third fight - Bivol, focusing on the trilogy, refused to defend the mandatory WBC title and was stripped of the belt several months ago.

Despite the absence of all championship belts, the third fight between Bivol and Beterbiev will be a grand event for Russian boxing. And if the organizers manage to implement this ambitious plan and hold the final of the trilogy in Moscow, the scale of the event will be truly historic.
